I am a writer of words, thinker of thinks and out-of-the-box organizer. I am passionate about welcoming others and laughing loudly.
I believe that philosophy best thrives in the creative work of the community. I believe in asking big questions, listening to inventive answers and building support structures. I earned my masters degree in theology at the University of Scranton in 2009. Since that time, I have been teaching philosophy at Luzerne County Community College in Nanticoke, PA and religion at Marywood University. But I fervently feel that philosophy needs to find a home outside of academia. I am currently test-piloting two programs aimed at school aged kids to explore big ideas through hands on, art driven activities.
My poetry has been published by Janus Head: Journal of Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature, Continental Philosophy, Phenomenological Psychology, and the Arts; The Penwood Review; The Anglican Theological Review and Word Fountain. In 2010, my poem “Conjoined” won first prize in the “Love at the Mutter” poetry contest, sponsored by the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia, PA. Which is cool, because, come on, The Mutter.
I am pleased to be the co-host of Origami Elephants, a podcast on philosophy and religion shared with my good friend, JR Forasteros. Together we have friendly conversations about divisive topics. I’m also very happy to have started publishing articles on media and culture with the talented crew over at norvillerogers.com.
